Session 17

Heroes: Sengar, Walaver, Rahel, Icarium.

In the next cavern, they're ambushed by aberrant creations called octopins, guarding the entrance to Zyrxog's domain.

Beyond the double doors, a lethal trap awaits, a stone brain dominating the Heroes and forcing them to attack each other!

The Heroes trouble continue when they enter some sort of horrific museum, where a demonic statue turn out to be a living vrock.

After defeating one more enemy, they finally arrive in the Temple of the Mind, where Zyrxog awaits them, together with more octopins. Zyrxog blasts the Heroes with his mental powers, but eventually Sengar's fury splatters its huge brain all over the walls.

Searching the chambers of the mind-flayer, the Heroes find more incriminating documents, among them a scroll mentioning a payment for the murder of the Heroes, ordered by a man called Loris Raknian. Having gathered all the informations, the Heroes abandon the compound to go back to Eligos.

As the Heroes approach Eligos's estate, a young boy darts past, rushing about posting flyers on every tree, wall, and message board he can find. The flyers read, "The Free City Champion's Games are coming!" Just below is an illustration of the Free City arena and at the bottom, "Loris Raknian, Director."

Session 16

Heroes: Sengar, Icarium, Rahel.

On their way out, the Heroes come upon a secret passage in the huge room where they fought the giant octopus: the passage is open and two dark elves, led my a cloaked figure, attack them on sight.

The cloaked figure stuns them with its terrible mental powers, then disappears, leaving the dark elves to finish the job. Even at a disadvantage, the Heroes prevail, and follow the secret tunnel into the local sewers, eventually resurfacing in the streets of the Free City.

After a quick clean up, the Heroes cash in on a favour from a noble elven house in the Free City, and get Sengar raised from the dead. Then they begin to investigate the sewers to track down the cloaked figure, and eventually discover a complex of natural caverns.

Inside, they face and evil Naga and more dark elves, all thralls of a villain called Zyrxog, described from his slaves as a "tentacled monster". Expecting the worst, the Heroes delve deeper into the caves.

Session 15

Heroes: Icarium, Aelarion, Rahel.

The Heroes explore the lower level of the Sodden Hold, falling victim to the many traps laid by the dopplegangers, and constantly doubting the very identity of their own adventuring companions!

After crossing a labyrinth of mirrors, they arrive in a great hall, where the doppleganger leader, Telakin, awaits them. He tries to fool them by taking Allustan's appearance, but the Heroes see through his masquerade and kill him.

In his rooms, they find papers detailing the influence of the dopplegangers on several institutions and noble families of the Free City. They also discover a device to create "mind clones" of captured victims, to be used in their dark schemes.

But it seems that even the dopplegangers have a more powerful master: a scroll pointing to an imminent meeting between Telakin and this dark mastermind send the Heroes on their next hunt!

Session 14

Heroes: Sengar, Walaver, Icarium, Rahel.

Icarium awakens in a dark cell, now prisoner of a gang of dopplegangers.
Walaver manages to get Sengar out of jail, and together they follow the clues leading them to the Sodden Hold, an abandoned warehouse in the River District.

There they find Icarium, but when they release him and other prisoners, they're attacked by more dopplegangers disguised as inmates. Their attack is so ferocious that Sengar falls under their wicked blades.

Rahel appears not long after, having escaped the psychic tortures of the doppelgangers, and joins the party. The Heroes must first cross a room with a dangerous broken floor, while harrassed by Invisible Stalkers.

Once on safe ground again, they find a dark pool and dive into it. Deep down, they face a huge octopus, guarding a flooded room. When the beast is dead, they find the mechanism to drain the water out of the room, and proceed with the exploration of the lower levels.

More twisted traps and dopplegangers await them...

Session 13

Heroes: Rahel, Aelarion, Sengar, Icarium, Walaver.

Outside of the walls, Rahel arrives to lend help to the party, and together with the newly met Walaver the Bard they manage to get Sengar into the city.

The Heroes regroup, and make their way to the Garden District, where Eligos welcomes them in his rich mansion. He hears what they have to say, and agrees to look for clues at the Great Library. While they wait for news from him, he suggests they stay at the Crooked House inn.

The Heroes spend a few days at the inn, when one night Aelarion suddenly stabs the innkeeper in the chest! Then he disappears into the crowd of panicking patrons. A few minutes later, he re-appears on top of the stairs, confused by the accusation of the angry mob. The situation rapidly escalates in an all-out fight in the tavern, where several patrons are killed by an enraged Sengar. Among the dead, a doppelganger can be found. The Heroes immediately smell foul play, but when the City Watch arrives, they're taken into custody and locked in a cell; all except Walaver who was not present during the fight.

In the middle of their first night in jail, a small team of doppelganger sneak into the compound, and help them "escape". They bind them with manacles to keep up appearances, and lock them in a reinforced carriage, then leave in a hurry. But where are they bringing them?

Session 12

Heroes: Aelarion, Sengar, Broil, Icarium.

The Heroes reach Diamond Lake, where Rahel, the lion-headed priest of Pelor, performs a ritual of purification to purge the green worms infecting them. During the rite, the Heroes find themselves bathed in divine light, and Pelor gives them his blessing.

But an image of St. Cuthbert appears in the heavenly sky, revealing that a traitor is among the Heroes. He smites Oculor, and sends the Heroes a mighty ally: from the waters of Diamond Lake, Icarium emerges, ready to smite St. Cuthbert's enemies with his mace.

After some rest, the Heroes visit the Dourstone mine, now abandoned, and find Ragnolin Dourstone (the mine manager) drooling in his own filth, mad with apocalyptic revelations. Icarium executes him on the spot; Broil, tired of all the madness and violence, decides to take over the Dourstone mine, and retire from adventuring.

The Heroes visit Allustan once again: the wizard suggest the travel to the Free City, where his old friend Eligos, and expert of weird and uncommon monsters, can maybe share further light about the strange green worms.

After a journey of five days, the Heroes reach the Free City. Their arrival is not without troubles, first at the city's gates, and then on the crowded streets, where they save the innocent bystanders from the attack of a crazed chimera escaped from a parade.
